1) Choose diameter by room and furniture

Use these as practical targets for most U.S. homes:

• 17.72" (6 lights): small bedroom, compact dining nook, small entry, apartment spaces
• 23.62" (9 lights): standard bedroom, small living room, smaller dining table zone
• 31.49" (14 lights): most dining rooms and living rooms, common “main chandelier” size
  39.37" (19 lights): large living rooms, big open-plan dining areas, wide ceiling zones
• 47.24" (24 lights): oversized rooms, long sightlines, tall ceilings where you want strong presence

Quick room-size cue (simple):

• Rooms around 10' x 10' to 12' x 12' usually fit 17.72" to 23.62"
• Rooms around 12' x 14' to 14' x 16' usually fit 31.49"
• Rooms around 16' x 18' and larger usually fit 39.37" to 47.24"

2) Set hanging height by room type

Dining table

• Keep the lowest point 30" to 36" above the tabletop.
• If the table is very wide or the ceiling is tall, aim closer to 34" to 36" to reduce glare.

Living room (over coffee table or seating zone)

• Aim for the lowest point about 78" to 90" from the floor.
• If the fixture sits near a walkway, keep it closer to 90" for comfort.

Bedroom

• Keep the lowest point 84" or higher from the floor in open walking areas.
• If centered above the bed (not a walkway), you can go slightly lower, but avoid sightline glare from pillows.

Foyer / entryway

• Keep the lowest point at least 84" (7 ft) above the floor for walk-under clearance.
• For taller ceilings, raise it so it visually sits in the “upper volume” and does not feel low at the door.

3) Use the adjustable wire correctly

• Decide the final lowest point first (clearance rule), then adjust the hanging wire.
• If you want a more architectural look, keep the chandelier a bit higher and rely on wall lighting for fill.
• If you want more table-focused light, keep it within the recommended dining drop range.

Room Placement Ideas

• Dining room: Center over the table and match diameter to the table zone so it looks balanced from every seat.
• Living room: Place over the coffee table or main seating group so the chandelier anchors the layout.
• Bedroom: Use it as a centerpiece above the bed zone, supported by bedside lamps for layered lighting.
